Dan McDonald is a native Texan with deep roots in Fort Bend County and a longstanding commitment to serving the communities, families, and businesses of Texas. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1986, Dan returned to his hometown of Richmond, Texas, where he began his career with Joe Wessendorff and the Wessendorff Companies, joining an agency founded by the Wessendorff family in 1928 and built on strong values, service, and trust.
Dan became licensed in insurance and real estate in 1988, strengthening the agency’s expertise and expanding its ability to meet the evolving needs of Texans. Recognizing a growing need for specialized insurance solutions, Dan began focusing on special purpose public entities, including Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) and Levee Improvement Districts (LIDs), while continuing to work with developers on related real estate transactions.
In 2006, Dan founded McDonald Waterworks LLC to further serve special purpose public entities across Texas. Two years later, he purchased a majority interest in McDonald & Wessendorff Insurance, continuing the agency’s proud legacy while expanding the agency into a full-service insurance firm offering Commercial, Personal, and Employee Benefits solutions, designed to meet the complex and evolving needs of businesses and individuals across Texas. Today, Dan and his team provide trusted insurance consulting and risk management services for water districts, levee districts, and related companies throughout Texas, guided by a deep appreciation for the complexities and nuances of insuring Texans.
The McDonald family’s commitment to the agency continues into the next generation, with Dan’s two children, Ali and Matt, having joined the firm as partners, further strengthening its leadership and ensuring continuity of the agency’s values and client-focused approach.
Dan remains actively involved in his community and maintains strong ties throughout Fort Bend County and the surrounding areas. Dan is married to his wife, Mary Ann, and enjoys spending his free time outdoors fishing, ranching, quail hunting, and playing golf.
